There is a strong sentiment that the Ripper may have been a creation of the tabloids of the era. No one single murderer, but a series of unconnected crimes lumped together to make a criminal that could not be caught.
ReplyDeleteExcellent notion!; there is every evidence the famous Ripper letter was fabricated by a Pressman...

DeleteMost of my info on this unsolved case is from the movies rather than actual facts or any research. Therefore what I gathered indicates that the Ripper could have been an influential Doctor with a mental condition or one of Queen Victoria's sons :(.

Well, Doctor, the Royal connection has been pretty well discounted, but a Doctor with a Mental Condition is an excellent candidate... I fear Sir. William Gull is not the Ripper, however, due to his stroke and age. At least it seems the Ripper was a man with medical pretensions, so your answer is certainly interesting!.
DeleteTwo fantastic replies to date, surely more to follow?. I shall announce the winner here in approximately one week's time, folks!. Good luck to all who enter!.
ReplyDeleteHi, just a thought, but people may be chary of giving their address on an open forum in these dark days. How about you chose a winner and request his/her address in a private message?
ReplyDeleteWhoops!: When I return home I'll amend this!: Literally hadn't occurred to me.Using my Wife's phone here, but I'll sign in properly tonight.
